It’s almost two months into the year, and I think it’s the perfect time to check in on your finances. I did just that yesterday, and I’ll be honest—I wasn’t feeling like I was making much progress toward my goals. At one point, I even doubted whether I’d be able to achieve some of them. In fact, I was seriously considering abandoning my kitchen project due to other priorities.
But then, I had to take a hard look at my finances and make some tough decisions about how to make things happen.

The Power of Numbers: Finding Clarity in Your Finances
I absolutely love working with numbers—it’s how I geek out! For me, doing the math actually reduces stress. When I dive into the numbers, I can visualize my future and turn my dreams into reality. It’s not just about tracking expenses—it’s about building a plan to create the life I want.
My SMART goal (more on those here) for this year is completely manageable, and I knew that from the start. The key was creating specific, actionable plans to stay on track. Without a plan, time can slip away, and before you know it, you haven’t made any progress. But now, I have clear numbers for what needs to be transferred to savings on payday and where my extra funds are coming from.

One of my personal goals for this blog is to make extra money while sharing the tips and tricks I’ve learned from my own financial journey. It’s about helping others make smarter money choices while achieving their own goals.
Have You Created a Budget? Is It Working for You?
If you haven’t created a budget yet, now is the time. Check out this one (or find your favorite) And if you already have one, is it working for you? Creating a realistic budget can take about three months, especially since it’s easy to write down what we want it to look like instead of what it really is.
Remember, a budget isn’t a straightjacket—it’s a plan. A plan for how your household uses money to create the life you want.
When I coach people on their finances, I don’t judge their spending choices. If something is important to you, spend the money on it. My goal is simply to ask: Does it align with your long-term goals? Where do you want to be in five years? Is your current spending plan helping you get there? If not, let’s reassess and figure out what needs to change—whether it’s your actions or your goals.
